Rebound!

One of Grace's Christmas presents was a toddler-sized basketball goal. As has been well-documented on this blog, we spend a million and four hours every winter at basketball games, as my husband is a high school basketball coach. Grace loves the basketball goal and (as most children) any excuse to legally throw something inside the house.

A couple of weeks ago, Grace heard one of Nathaniel's assistant coaches repeatedly yelling "Rebound!" at the top of his lungs. Promptly, Grace turned to me and asked, "Mommy, what is rebound?" I appreciated the question and thought it was neat that she was listening and paying attention to the game. Then, I had to figure out how to answer in a way a toddler would understand. I did my best and she must have understood, because she now yells "Rebound!" at appropriate times-- when someone has missed a basket. It makes me laugh each time she does it but it also makes me proud: she's already learning the family business.

I love that she is the expert on all things basketball {or will be soon enough} and yet she can enjoy a good episode of "pretty dresses!" Thanks for letting us come hang this weekend! We can't wait to come back!
